Yes,
I am fire
and
you are water.
I burn brightly
with hope and passion
while you
hide below the surface
trying to drown any spark
with your doubts and fears.

A fire does not
have to rage
out of control,
frightening those
in its path.
It can be warm,
comforting
and when combined
with water
and the right ingredients,
produce a great cup of tea
for sharing.

Water does not
have to smother
or turn hearts cold.
It can cool
and refresh
a weary traveller,
cleasnse and brighten
a darkened soul.

Flow away from the fire
if you must
but I hope
I am never
so scorched and barren
in your eyes
that I cannot
come to your side
and have
a soothing drink.
