Tell me why
are you keen on finding fault
at everything I do?

Is it because you
want to
push me away--
so far away that
I never ever dream
of coming closer again?

Yet, you say you desire
that I remain to be
your best friend!

While, I keep myself
on offer to be there
right by your side
when you need me most
with my shoulder
ever ready to be wetted by your tears
with my ears always open
to hear your words of distress
with my arms always stretched
to give you a comforting hug.

Yes, I will be always
there for you,
forever.

Yet, you want to
cause me to hurt,
to push me away
so far away that
you don't want to feel
obligated to be closer again

But don't you realise that
I never wished you
to feel obligated?

Love is that highway where lovers meet
when their small paths conjoin
and then on, it becomes a long drive,
and all they need to remember is
there are other vehicles driving too,
and be just that bit careful
not to crash into one.

You knew this already,
while this was my first,
you were my first --
you are the only one yet
whom I kissed or touched.

There is no one in my mind yet,
I doubt if there will be any evermore
for, there is the doubt that lives
growing like a wild weed --
an offspring of a bad seed
in my heart, my mind
evergrowing!

Yet, you chose
to crash this wagon of our love,
that you were driving and
all I tried was see a way,
find our way of life full with
infinite dreams!

Well, after the crash,
all those remain are insurance companies
and firemen coming to clean up the mess
…and memories of you and me
who couldn't be we!

'!'

aw...sudhir? this IS a tearjerker! And your insights as to why someone would repeatedly cause us pain are very astute. Now, if you can figure out why we allow that? Lemme know, will ya? sigh, sigh...wonderful read!

Sudhir--First love is always a memory that will be kept in your heart...sometimes it is best to let it stay there and move on to something else...for I can see you are miserable trying to save it as friendship...I loved your road and car insurance metaphor and the wisdom that you are gaining from driving around.  My best to you sweet man...hugs!

O Serene One... thanks... I will let you know, if I find an answer to that one...

Martie, I think that misery is my friend for now... I am trying to tag along the road... Thanks a lot for your comforting words... and for the hugs...

Sudhir, you said a mouth full in the title.  A tearjerker indeed!!  Wow, such longing in this one.  I hope it all works out.  WIsh I knew why the ones we love most are the ones we always seem to push away.  Sigh . . .

"There is no one in my mind yet,
I doubt if there will be any evermore"

One of the wonderful things about love is that it happens in spite of full minds and doubts... it doesn't always happen right away and sometimes we walk many despairing miles with only our doubts for company... and then one day, we notice someone else on or near our path... and the pain is delegated to a memory scrapbook to be learned from but no longer lived.

This is a tearjerker... but it's filled with insight and says much about the heart that's hurting, that's caring in spite of the pain. Well done!

First loves are very special. As an old woman, I can tell you that you never forget the good memories or the lasting feelings that rue the day departed. However, they are many more love to create, meet and greet. So my hope for you is that you shall be blessed as you move forward in your life. Shalom. ~~Julian

Yes this is how elusive love is...for if the feelings are not the same in two hearts the scorned heart will know torture....and as the beauty of love lured us to them the pain of love will drive us away to a safe haven...and some day we will feel the desire to try again...and hopefully this time love will smile for us and not bring us tears....James
