Listening to every heart

0 posted 2001-04-04 09:27 AM

The Soul of a Poet

Mayhap it shall come to me, in light gay,
the heart of a bard to induce my say,
through tales of old, of other days,
a recitation may come my way

Perchance an elegy I shall write
the loss of dear ones numerous
my lament and grief, both day and night,
‘tho I shan't write o’er the loss of us

To honor Theocritus I would pen
an idyllic scene to suit the when
that life was pure and fine of flair,
and I would give it a pastoral air

If to be a lyrist of lyre and pen
would I gain your heart, and then
would you sing fine songs with me
and join in an absolute harmony

Or in silence of a moment, to muse,
and then to be so joyfully enthused
by the promise of your words to bring
a song to my heart, that we might sing

Maybe for me the life of a trouvère
and to pen with Parnassian flair
thus how to capture one poet’s glance,
to pen by chance an Elysian dance

To seize the heart of one who would pen,
the poet, the bard, a muse, to spend
a night, a day, to master the write,
this my wish, and my dream held tight

For the soul of a poet, I would endure
that the heart of a soul I would ensure

Sunshine,
It's wonderful. Did you mean to change the rhyme pattern in verse two, if so it's a very effective way to give pause.

Never let go of those dreams, Sunshine.  This was so beautiful yet, I detect a hint of sadness within these lines.  Hope all is well with you, my friend.  Wonderful writing.

YOU? Wishing for a troubadour's life?  Permit me, kind and talented lady ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Who doth this fair maid be
wishing for bards' writing?
'Tis like Homer wishing
Theocritus to be.
I rest my case ....
Live for love. Without love, you don't live.
I can not do that kind of poetry,
So I am sending a hug to you from me.
For I saw between the lines sadness there,
And I wish to tell you Sunshine, I care!
Fantastic!
Kari dear heart
Whenever I have a moment to myself I thank the lord that HE sent SUNSHINE, you brighten my day. This is utterly truly outstanding and yes love as always vastly superior.
indeed Lady Sun of Skye,
thou hast indeed told a tale
that I am sure thou dost know well
for there is none that holds
the Soul of the Poet
more than thee
I bow to thee and thy words Fair Lady. . .
