A Touch Of Breath

We lay in the grass in the park
this early spring day
feeling the sun's promise of warmth
driving the chill away.
We listen to birds practicing their courting songs,
warming up for the rites to come;
a kite twists, circles and dives
striving to break its bind to earth,
straining to touch the clouds and beyond.
You kiss my cheek,
just a touch of breath…
I love the day,
everything in it,
the promises it bears.
I love you.
And deeper than that…
I
Love
You
~

what an unusual title and a fresh look at spring!
