Far Away

As moon's arise succeeds the slipping light,
forgive your weary tears their flood and weep.
Dear droplets, sorrow's storm in passing night,
I'll come to you and dry them, each, in sleep.
But as the morning reaches wide its hand
to where you lie, think on our precious times
of meadow talks and walking mountain land,
reciting plays and songs and childish rhymes.
And know in grace and gratitude we share
what some oftimes await their living's span
in vain to find, some saddened feigned affair,
pretending love exists where nothing can.

As clouds of night release you into day,
I promise I will not be far away.

Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau
