Love is More than a Bed

by Michael

Whenever I read poems of love,
they always take place in a bed,
as if that's all romance can be.
I guess it's dying, or else dead.

A night's too short for happiness
and much too short to feed her heart.
There's other things so like a kiss,
that no bed ever can impart.

Come take your dear love by the hand.
In summer rain, just take a walk
and watch as droplets trace her face.
Let silence substitute for talk.

Try sitting, her head on your chest
and quietly whisper in her hair,
as you breathe in the scent of her.
She cannot help but know you care.

Count all her fingers with a kiss.
You'll feel each breath and each soft sigh
and know that in her there's such bliss,
for her this is a special high.

So much more is there to romance.
Caress her heart, put off the bed.
Drown in her eyes and not her skin.
Remember things she did and said.

Hold her and enjoy her warmth.
Now listen closely, that's her heart.
If just the bed is how to love,
then romance is a dying art.

Wow, well said!  Romance is truly dying, that's for sure. And there is so much more to love than the lust or hotter type passion.
Great read.

I applaud this completely.  There is so much more to love than what we normally touch on.  This is wonderful, Auguste.  I've so enjoyed your writing.

Oh Michael, this is romance at it's best.  You're right, no bed required.  There is so much more to it than that.  These are wonderful suggestions.

it IS???

lol.... thanks!!! you've given me an education!!

just kidding.... i knew that... really i did... what's wrong with  the kitchen floor or the great outdoors or the deck or the attic or the bathroom?... hehe....

but .... umm.... what i mean to say is...

your words speak deep
in thoughts we keep
within the Love Dreams of our souls.
i read the bliss
within the kiss
of words you've penned in great control!
the levels of
True Love above
the intimacy of the touch
prove Love is known
by what is shown,
and giving Love means oh so much!
there are so many ways to show
your heart's endear to let Love grow!!!

(thank you for the inspiration and i hope it was ok to tag onto your post...... your poem was very well written and said so much about the value of Life and Love within the close relationships of people who share their Time.... thank you!!!)

Micahel--I think with this poem you speak to a problem between the sexes that causes many a breakdown in relationships.  Thank you for seeing beyond the physical to the place where love really dwells.

It's the relationship outside of the bedroom that leads to such a nice night, The bedroom is not the only place to show true love, speaking from a woman's point of view, I can tell you that we like to be touched caressed, kissed and adored not just fondled. You have wrote an excellent poem, your very very wise!!

Very romantic. Cuddling is also "love".

suthern,

Thank you.  It is my sincere wish that every man had this attitude.  If so, I know women would feel so much more appreciated.

Nate,

Thanks for the "brilliant" and for reading.
