If Nothing...a Survivor

Gainfully employed once again
He asked when I could start
Stomach growling with hunger
Nonetheless I thought

Just one more day of poetry
And purple crayon cocktails
Peanut butter on a spoon
Reading others midnight ramblings

Just one more silent afternoon
Cool darkness of my study
And I will face the world again
This I need to ready

I hadn’t counted on
The cable and electric man
Each with keys to halt my world
Readily in hand
Accosting me together
To disconnect my link
From my life, my only sanity
To this land of poets ink

I will make it here, ultimately
If nothing...a survivor
What price I’ll pay I have no clue
A loser and a writer

Speak when you are angry--and you'll make the best speech you'll ever regret...Laurence J. Peter

Oh ouch.  Do you, by chance, ever listen to Sarah McLachlan or Jann Arden?  You remind me of their music at times......
That's meant as a compliment!  Nothing like a quiet evening, a glass of wine and reflecting on life with either one of them.
