I looked back at the clock again
his eyes told me he had little time
thready, uneven, but still beating

He looked sideways at his wife
chest wide open, trauma team rolling
but her chance was lost by an unworn belt

His daughter had no bumps, no bruises
her toddler seat had done it's job
but she was losing everything she knew

A real man

kisses his children goodnight

James,

This is so sad and tragic.  There is a reason they made seatbelts a law here in Michigan and this is it.  Ouch . . .

Love your signature by the way!!

This is so sad, all too real and happens too often.  But we need reminding.  Joyce

In another life I was a trauma room paramedic and this was my third night working there so the event stuck. There are many others of which I want to write in time.
