~* The Eagles And Me *~

by Mysteria

As I stare out my kitchen window,
Into the ebony darkness of night.
My familiar postcard returns to sight.
A sickle of moon filters through,
A web of lace, speckled with a tiara of stars.
Magnificant silhouette of cedars and spruce,
Dwarf tall trees still bare of leaves.
A winter to spring masterpiece,
Again being painted before my eyes.
Mountains, lightly sugared with new snow.
The cold, clear breeze blows and chills.
Spirals of leaves over the hills dance,
Finding their resting place.
The air is so fresh, clean and crisp,
And almost the color of indigo.
My minds eye softly drifts as,
Sweet memories of the day return.
My mountain home, city lights below.
Snow now melting from the mountaintops,
Rages in torrents to the sea below.
Crystal clear water so pure, where earlier,
I drank some straight from a mountain stream.
I grab my favorite mug, filled with steaming tea.
A fire crackling on my deck eagerly awaits me.
The smoke pirouettes creating a work of art,
Soon serenity of my thoughts will intertwine.
The aroma of fire can never be duplicated.
That warming smell of pine needles and cedar.
My heart smiles as I button up and venture out.
All the beds of fresh and wild flowers are gone,
Underfoot, new buds are lazily appearing.
The crunch of the new fallen snow,
Creates a luminous carpet for my path.
City lights reflect off the snow-capped,
Mountain tops like a pyrotechnic explosion.
I see night skiers still taking their chances,
Adrenaline driving them for just one more run.
Bears shift and begin awakening from hybernation,
Anticipating nature’s call of a brand new spring.
It brings new life, restoration,
Songs of love, for spring is rebirth,
Followed by summer's promise.
For us 'winter lovers' who live here,
This season is never, ever long enough.
How blessed am I?
Here, out my kitchen window,
The summits of the mountains, freshly,
Capped with lightly, powdered snow,
I am one, where eagles fly.
Yet out another window, I spy,
One last forgotten pink rose so beautiful,
Still proudly standing, taking its last breath.
Nature sings a wonderful song, do you hear it?
When she is shrouded in white, she is so beautiful.
I would not trade this view I have,
For anywhere else in the world.
I feel like Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ,
And I remember to click my heels,
Three times every day and say a prayer,
That this magnificant view the Creator gave me,
Will never see shackles of cement or steel,
And always belong to the eagles and me.

Mysteria, the imagery in this is stunning..
and equalled by the serene and peaceful union with nature that you define.
wonderful writing and presentation,
the music was perfect.

It's such a clever innocence with which you show myself to me

I remember now that first snow-bud rose sparkling in a mid-day sun, and inhale smells of sweet pine and cedar, hear the crackling of a fire and exhale the day's care completely aware. Wonderful.

Suthern:  That picture is almost identical of my view that is why I chose it, pretty lucky aren't I - I live very close to heaven!

Kismet: You share my view so all you need is the music (I can show you how to do that) and you could write of this as well, and then there could be two of us writing about our mountain range.  I know everyone here would love to see your work...start posting girl!
