Gambling my Heart

Tempting fate I took you in my arms
Denying reality I lay then by your side
Resting logic I believed we’d always be
Following emotion I tried not to think

Holding you I lived only in that moment
Reading poetry I thought you wrote for me
Halting tears I never dared to show you
Speaking now I fear that you will see

Begging God I ask for one more chance
Believing fairy tales I can rewrite our truth
Playing odds I lay my money on the table
Gambling my heart I say that I still love you

Speak when you are angry--and you'll make the best speech you'll ever regret...Laurence J. Peter

*Sad smile*   You leave me pondering how it is love is supposed to be a good thing.  And yet, it can end up so far from that.

An excellent write, JLR

JLR,

A gamble indeed.  I hope you it.  Sure isn't easy to lay it all on the line like that.  best of luck to you.

A bit like crossing thin ice . . .
I enjoyed the "edge" to this.

sometimes RJ, you've got to roll those dice. . . I know. . . sometimes, they come up 7, and other times. . . well. . . that's why there's always another roll. . .

wonderful. . .

JAW---Your response caused me to ponder the same until I found my mind moving in circles and I started to get dizzy and...well, I had to stop.  So if you figure it out, please let me know.  Thanks...your words are always appreciated.

Paula---I've got a great heart-shaped bandaid I'll send you.  Thanks for reading.

LW---Thank you for reading and your kind words.  It is a risky thing we do each time we fall in love.

SA---Glad you enjoyed.  'Thin ice', exactly.

Kathleen---Thanks for reading and understanding.

Laura---Our misery loves company, doesn't it?  Thanks kiddo.

PK---I am quite flattered.  Thank you!

Sven---If love was any less a gamble, it probably wouldn't be so attractive.  And yes, I will surely 'roll', again.  Thanks.

Like the way you pulled this all together JLR. Could feel the emotion, the uncertainty,
the hopefullness...it is a game in many ways...
