Yesterday's Valley

I've been touched with a sweet everlasting feeling
I've been followed each step by yesterday's face
Now, I find myself walking roads from long ago
By the grace of God I've landed in an awesome place...

He's lifted me just high enough to really see
With just a glance I find her here in my mind
Her smile is the picture I'm fortunate enough to find
And, I hold onto each memory here one at a time...

So, I walk as slowly as possible through yesterday's valley
Staring at moments my mind has drifted from
Oh, how the years have been good to me all along
I was given her heart; the most kindest one...

This journey is filled with pieces of how I survived
And, each picture is signed with her loving heart
If only I could travel this path just once every day
I'd never feel the distance that keeps us apart...

Yesterday's valley is the one way I can see her again
So, forgive me if I hold on so tight
And, one must understand why I cry to that shiny moon
I didn't mean to drift away from her eternal light...

Yesterday's valley finds me loving as much as I could
And, today finds me much the same
I've lost the words through time that's been given to me
And, I've allowed myself to fall right with the rain...

Never have I forgotten her place in this world at all
And, may God remind her of just where I was
May she feel in her heart to take yesterday's valley, too
So, she may feel from me how much she is loved...

Have you ever known the color grey when the nighttime finds you weak
I have, I've walked that road each time; that's where my angel sleeps

Saunni~
I knew from the beautiful title that I would like this one ...
and I certainly do.
I've saved it to remind me that others also walk yesterday's valleys
and that I am not alone in my thoughts.
Thank you, sweet lady.
I'll meet you in the valley.
Bless you.
*Hugs*

=======================

This is a very beautiful, spiritual, enlightening poem...
you have written soulfully and sincerely of both the tears and the inner peace and serenity that comes from undying love and the gift of memories cherished ...
the cadence in this part of its pleasures,
the emotions and imagery touched me.

It's such a clever innocence with which you show myself to me
As if you know how it feels to never be who you wanted to be

Truly a flowing piece that weaves a story so very well. Tactile imagery and soul that would have every woman sighing. Excellent.

A memory is a wonderful place to find yourself when the memory holds a smile.  This is written very well, it's cohesive and flows without effort.
