Morning's Call...

She wakes me up before my time,
A time when he was always here
To feed and nourish, attend to her
Instead, it's me she wants to appear.

I really don't mind, but I've lost a year
Of sleepness nights, of dawn's first grace.
So early every morning, I,
Arise to here, for words to lace.

And dress me come the early hours,
To shower first or bathe in warm.
For words are what sustains me now
And hold me in, contain my form.

They build me up when I am down,
They rinse the residue of fear.
Yes grateful that I have some thing
To wake me every morning  here.

If even she is feline, just
And tends to me by watching out,
Informs me when it's time to live.
Loves me wholly, I've no doubt.

Someday, award her, I must do,
No Oscar, Emmy or Golden globe
Could ever be enough for her.
Deserved she, both Crown and Robe.

I think I'll make her one, myself
And when I do, will snap her form.
Frame it, placed for all to see
That through dismay, she kept life warm.

Forgiving always, she has been
An unconditional friend in real.
Without her, life would pass me by,
It is her timing that makes me feel.

This poem is dedicated to her
And pets who share their love with all.
I only hope she knows her worth
When waking me with morning's call.

I'm glad you have a pet you can love. (But, cats aren't my favorite.)

Wynter,
at first I thought it was your muse that woke you in the early light
and now I find it is your cat, oh me oh my... what a fright
her gentle prods and morning hugs filled this reader with delight
joy bubbled forth and laughter rang at vision of the sight.

well written. I love your metred verse.
write on

Melton...actually I am allergic to her  but I lost my  afghan of 15 years a few  years  back and this was a found pet..that I was left  with..it is really my husband's...but she loves the hand that feeds her..*s

and Kethry..it  really is cute..she comes up to my face the same time every morning and taps my cheek with her paw trying to wake me up to  feed her..*s
