The Tide, The Sea, The Moon

Even before we were
friends, there was flowing
between us- an energy.
You the moon, and I
the helpless tide,
unsure of what moved me.
I was pulled across
the ocean floor, rising
and falling to your rhythms,
as you circled above me.
Often clouded and hidden
still you drew me along.

A grateful sea caresses your
reflection and carries you
upon each wave, as
your light touch upon
its surface brings about
an upwelling from the deep,
whose waters have long
been seeking your face.

Warmed by the embrace,
they refuse to sink back
down to their cold depths,
seeking instead to linger-
bringing confusion to all
that is above and below.
Emotions are dizzied,
a whirlpool soon ensues-
seeking to restore what was,
for fear of what might never be.
Wanting only to enjoy once more
The tide, the sea, the moon.

Jamie

I enjoyed your metaphore of tide and moon...my favorite lines were the very human feelings of:

"seeking to restore what was,
for fear of what might never be.
Wanting only to enjoy once more
The tide, the sea, the moon."
