This is my first Open Poetry venture, so feel free to criticise. This got shown in Dark Passion 3, as part of 3 poems, but it was more suited to this board, so it gets an individual posting. Floating free above my mind Towards a bright new light Could this be Heav’n? I am not dead. This new world Like nothing seen afore I float around Through bright, green forest Over tall mountains. I weep with joy For true beauty Surrounds me utterly I wander for ages Not a soul do I see Till I cross the sea Reaching a new land Where, on the bay lies A white, gleaming city Filled with people Of such glorious beauty Angels if I ever saw them And the streets of that city Ah so clean. Yet then a voice booms Seeming from the heav’ns “Are you paying attention?” Then the world dissolves Returning me to the dirty, dreary Classroom of reality Skoota Come to me |
