David

The evening sky oiled the rooftops
With the smooth, slow strokes
Of an accomplished servant.
Light,
Departed like the caravan to Joppa,
Settled in the west
Where the wilderness
Delighted in the shoulders
Of the Judean landscape.
Color rose from beneath the surface,
And with it, warmth,
Yielding
From behind a lattice
A hush of breath
Bathing in the temple
Of a Mediterranean sunset.

A scene to last a lifetime...lovely, this.

BEautiful, I couldn't help but think of Bathsheba while I read this, yet, it ended much too beautifully to have been focused upon David's weakness.  More it was focused upon His vision of God's wonderful creation. thanks for sharing this one RMW!
