Bits and Echoes

Flotsams token broken bits…toll the bottom of my wits
Grime of old digested chime…making rotten shafts of time.
Stir the demons of my goal…threaten structures of my soul.
Make my head to bow in shame…neath the showers of to blame.

Infringements of youth and play…insidiously display
Concavities of old flaunts…into phantom flares that haunt.
Baste the barriers conspire…to fields of muck and mire.
Slow my feet and mind and wit…into unrewarding grit.

Though I fight with lance and shield…bits of flotsam will not yield
And winds strike me icy cold…either that or I’m too old.
I tire and give way ground…my mind sore of nightly round
Weary lays my arm once stout…heavy from a mind of doubt.

And though I pray loud and clear…salvation does not appear
Nothing stays but night and day…little of a light of way.
The crows fly about my head…yet I know that I’m not dead.
I curse them their darks declare…but only in wildest stare.

Generations fly my sight…generations why and night.
And I add my voice to theirs…echoing their dreams and prayers.

my goodness me thinks Randy read you some Poe for a bedtime story
such a wonderfully melancholy gift of inner rhyme and imagery you have penned for us me sweet.
There are so many cool images and phrases in this walk thru your poetic mind
excellence from you pen Stinky ... its like second skin for you

and you speak to me in rhymes

Sy, this is outstanding.  Am saving for many reads.  Powerful emotion written only as you could.  I almost feel as though I should curtsy to the master!  LOL

Winkiewinkie, blinkiebkinkie
Randy read me Poe's darkthinkie.
He is a scoundrel and a tease.
With very little if you please.
He read me once upon a theory
And made ne very very weary.
But he sends his love with mine
Somewhere right below this line.
Love you dearly tinkerbell
You toll a very pleasant bell.

Just A Women,
You may take my hand in friendly bow
But curtsy I will not allow.

I'm glad JM called your bluff on that old stuff... I was gonna have to get out my baseball bat! *G* And that would be a shame to cause you bodily harm after you've penned such somber excellence... this is great!

Suthern,
I can always count on you for a boost. Yes JM won't put up with any of that stuff. But every once in a while I like to get it out of my system. You are a sweet heart and I thank you for the read and sweet comment. *L*
