Leaves performing gymnastic swirls
on their path to the ground
Frost, not dew, making them crisp

Painting a picture of fall, life receeding
young children, new life, discovering Autumn

Scattered leaves raked into high piles
     a mattress
on which children play

A real man

kisses his children goodnight

I do love your quote, by the way.  A very good one.
