~Slow Burn~

I can see you now--
much clearer than I did before.
Still nothing I felt has changed ...
except that I want you even more.

I'm not talking about true love,
no cliche' promises of destiny.
I'm talking about wanting to feel your heat,
to smolder in the slow burn of your intensity.

I can try to dress it up in subtlety,
try to disguise it in metered rhyme.
But it simply all comes down to this,
I just want your mouth on mine.

One week, one night, one hour,
one chance to touch your flame.
One time to witness deliverance,
in moments that know no shame.

I'm not asking for forever ...
Just awhile to put your tired mind at ease.
Allow me to quiet all your chaos,
and then bring you to your knees.

Lets just get this out of our system,
surrender to the draw of this desire.
Give in to this temptation without hesitation ...
turn to smoke and ash in the heat we inspire.

And I swear I'd burn in hell ...
for just your touch alone.
For what I trust in you,
is all I've never known.

Some thing's you just don't get over,
to some things we become a slave.
Consider this my poetic confession ...
I'll take this ache of you to my grave.

~Face To Face~
by:Tom Kimmel
cd: Circle Back Home

I want you to know me ...
I want you to know me ...

I wanna get next to you
see whats under that icy blue
I want you to show me
want you to show me

I wanna get next to you
see whats under that icy blue
Hear you whisper that you want me too
stretch the night the way lovers do
I want you to know me
know me ...

Now were standing on the line ...
I mean face to face
I'll be turning on like a dime
if you move my way
I wanna do it just right with you
wanna feel the fever like lovers do
wake up in the middle of the night with you
Face to face

I want you to know me ..
want you to know me

I wanna get next to you
See what under there touches you
I want you to show me
want you to show me

I wanna get next to you
wanna turn the pages of a rare issue
Feel the fever like lovers do
Feel the rhythm inside of you
chase the night until the day is thru
Hear you whisper you need me too

Now were standing on the line ...
I mean face to face
I'll be turning on like a dime
if you move my way
I wanna do it just right with you
wanna feel the fever like lovers do
wake up in the middle of the night with you
Face to face
Face to face

oh you speak to me in riddles
and you speak to me in rhymes
my body aches to breathe your breath
your words keep me alive

I hate to admit this to the world but there have been a few touches worth burning for!

First, I must preen a bit that I'm finally getting to reply within 3 days of you posting the poem... the queen of suckey timing is getting it right for once! LOL

"And I swear I'd burn in hell ...
for just your touch alone.
For what I trust in you,
is all I've never known.

Some thing's you just don't get over,
to some things we become a slave.

Yanno what, hon? When it's this consuming, we're only lying to ourselves that we'd be happy with just once... unless that once is a long lifetime. *S* For one week, one night, one hour doesn't douse the flame... it fuels it... and the need only leaves our system when we're 6 feet under (if then! *S*) But I won't tell if you won't! LOL

You've penned smouldering perfection here, JM... It sizzles... it burns slow and burns hot! (I'm quite sure my monitor is smoking! LOL)

Dear JM,
Your dragon has set Randy on fire.
And he's burning up with desire.
He didn't even put a sadle on.
He just leaped up and was gone.
He knows you didn't mention his name
But he forgives you just the same.
He will be there in just a few hours
With a bouquet of gorgious flowers.
If you can let him down easy
And keep him away from the nearest speakeasy.
Wonderful poem. Winkiewinkie

It's gonna take more than a vial of water to put this fire out! Hmmm....ever go skinny dipping in the Mississippi?
I think it's time! Know anybody we can get as a lifeguard?

This one IS the intensity of YOU, m'twin!
Sizzling write--one I understand well--AS YOU KNOW! Love ya much...now I'd better go read before I spontaneously combust!

Janet, I had such fun reading this. You really put it out there and truth to tell - we have all felt that way about someone at least once in our lives. Thanks. Panne

Janet Marie, I thought my fever was from my illness....little did I know that you were sitting here like a little spider, causing incendiaries to arise within souls, and those souls reaching out, saying "read this....and then, and only then, will you know the cause for the burn...."

and now I have to take a deep breath, and a cold shower....

Janet, it will take a lot of something to cool down this hot flash!!  Brother, I don't think there was anything or any one around in my age range to make a burn like this.  And they called them the good old days.   Very well done and ( eating ice cubes) enjoyed.  Hugs,  ME

WOHHH  JM ... Is your pen smokin'???  You're burnin' up these pretty blue pages with
the intensity that smolders behind these words girl!

Incredible write Janet Marie, powerful, intense, and fraught with emotion!  Now, I'll quietly slip away and pretend I've never felt this ever before, no never, shhhhh!

Best wishes,

Another Wow poem for the library, although I'm afraid it might burn a hole through the shelf!  Isn't it wonderful and crazy how we can desire to touch the flame even knowing the scars it will leave?  I have much more respect for the fire these days...your poem does justice to its power.
