Desert Songs

Desert songs in April breeze
A voice through eucalyptus trees
Repeats the tale of desert bird
A story I had never heard
In rocky hills my heart was stirred

A thousand acres made of sand
Speckled hills of green and tan
Within this desert’s splendid place
Remain the son’s of tribal race
With ageless shadows on their face

A pathway through the canyon sand
Where love was walking hand in hand
Below the fold of mountain sides
A kiss forever there abides
And swirls in winds of ancient tribes

At sunset hour in open space
A canyon wrapped in love’s embrace
Of mountains edged in purple hue
Enfold the essence that is you
In desert flowers and sage of blue

Your rhyme is excellent, the meter sweeps me away and the
expression and imagery are absolutely 100% amazing.
This IS very impressive, Elizabeth.
