As children we play among budding trees
during our early springtime afternoons
beyond the branches lay summertime freedom
outside the squares of little school rooms
The kids start to chasing in a game of tag
one boy climbs a tree, he is three maybe four
he thinks of flying towards the sun
next we see him on the forest floor
He isn't crying, nor is he moving
"my mom will kill me" his sister screams
sometimes I wonder at the winter
Once before a summertime dream

A real man

kisses his children goodnight
