~*~ Why? ~*~

by Mysteria

Just when I discarded the thought of an “us”,
Like last year’s birthday and Christmas cards,
Here comes that familiar feeling again…
A raging fire that has laid dormant for so long
Now begins to slowly smolder amidst the
Once cold smoke and ashes of my constant lament.

I hear your voice, that familiar laughter,
And I can't stop my heart from soaring to that
Familiar unreachable summit of my being.
Now fluttering and synchronizing,
My memory reflects to the days, when a smile
And thoughts of you were my constant companions.

Why should I entertain the thought of forgiving you?
Living without you was so easy, uncomplicated.
There was freedom, a sense of order in my life?
It was so easy to retreat behind my wall of anger,
Protected from my feelings of rejection and pain.

You did the dance…do you deserve a second chance?
Well, I suppose that you do! Why...?
Because I believe in you, and I believe in love;
I believe in forgiveness, second changes, and,
The possibility of resurrecting love,
But most of all - I believe in me!

This has such a powerful uplifting message and spirit at the end...these lines sparkle:

"Because I believe in you, and I believe in love;
I believe in forgiveness, second changes,
The possibility of resurrecting a love,
But most of all - I believe in me!"

...your light shines brightly, Sharon!

I really enjoyed reading this one. It reminded me of something my friend always tells me..Sometimes human forgiveness is a selfish thing..sometimes you do it more for you than for the person you're forgiving..I thought this was wonderful.

Wow, this is some kind of writing; made me shiver-what courage!

Sharon...Forgiving is a gift you give yourself...the last line of this was great with strength.

Mysteria~

'Here comes that familiar feeling again…'

Started me singing -
'Here you come again - and here I go !'

Love it, lady~

The song in my head is: I'm just a fool in love. Funny how you are almost over someone, and along comes that feeling once again. We are so very human.

Believe in yourself first. Then you will know if another is worth the believing an the forgiving. Good poetry. Joyce

Beautiful, just beautiful. Life is full of second chances, we just need to recognize them. Thank you for sharing this!
