You with All the Power

I have no strength of character

The powers that be
knew my weakness when they dealt me
such an easy hand

So why now
have they decided
to change the rules midgame

Why now
do they expect that I can change

I have no desire to learn
to grow
to become a person of character
when the lack
has served me well

Don’t act surprised
when I rage against your self-righteousness
your pop psychology mentality

You wanted me dependent
under your control
now you pull the rug from beneath me
and wonder why I can’t stand

You with all the power
I am your creation

Wow.......this hits rather close to home here, JLR. Might I say this is one of your best writes?

I'm going to reflect some on this one.

I'm really glad you posted it.

We really should never be under any one else's complete control; been there, done that---no more.

indeed. . . we should never be under anyone's control. . . nor should we give up that control because it's what we think they want us to do. . .

this is excellent. . . powerful words. . .

Just a Woman---Thank You...unfortunately brutal, personal honesty is sometimes where I find the best words.

Irish Rose---You are right, of course. Thanks for the words of strength.

Sven---No excuses, just thank you for your support.

Dee---Thank you so much for reading and responding.

Sunshine---It is indeed thrown out there and I for one am exhausted. As always, thank you.

The bitter legacy of a cruel creation . . . I know something about that but haven't been able to air it out yet. Courage to you, JLR. Hard to stand when the legs have been broken . . .

I'd like to print this "gem" out and send it directly to my parents. I'm going to be reading this one again and again. Thank you for your brutal honesty, I've found this is the only way to live..   Kate

A poem torn from deep within
which most do not understand all
the painful acheing steps one hauls
their interior from each bloody its own

Yes you were made Yes the pain is unceasing
But seeing the darkness brought to light
you can begin to make yourself in the image
you select design yourself the artists

greatest challenge Here is the canvas of my
life of me I have the brushes I have paint
Have the will to paint Love yourself enough
to paint despite what bygone critcs say

Here is my canvas my colors are rainbows I
shall paint the me that I Choose to be Not
what someone thought I should or should not
be here I am all the colors here I am me

I know I was taught certain colors attitudes
perspective washes throw them away paint
form heart and mind combined paint only for
yourself for only you inhabit your day

we are ALL made everyone of us time nips and
drags us though once we learn we are not who
they made us or thought we were if I may not
in great surprise quote a song of my own here

"Throw it back in their face, let them devour
their own disgarce, do what you do, you need
not ask why, if its right you'll keep doing
it until the day you die, Do what you do"

I see untold uneccesarry suffering near everywhere

I turn this land of abundance is
dying for it no longer has a heart we the
living no matter station or beliefs it is

Our responsibility to give back that heart of
living You are not alone I stopped writing
fiction in prose for near 20 years while
adding plot after plot character after each

One day I realized it was my parental's both
intrusion of privacy and more their amusement
that at 16 I was sending out stories to
magazines I think it was the laughter that

drove the stake into my heart but now I have
incorporated all these years into something

I am just slightly proud of and I no longer
consider those people as determiners of me

Why to say this all in public well I think
the time for sweeping things under bulging rugs
has
passed
and we all hurt and we were all made and everyone of us needs to place

the canvas the brushes the paint and begin
oh and yes you can from this or any moment on
never doubt that its time to paint our lives
more importantly so many self portraits

are in need of being done right now how many
have the least idea who you really are time
time for being time for painting time to be
not what you were made to think was you

NO time to paint the reality of me
try it you may be surprised just
what the canvas reveals either way it is
your eyes that judge now and forever

While I can understand the anger this brings, I was under someone's complete control once upon a time, and it almost killed me (  he almost killed me ).....getting away was the best thing that ever happened in my life!! I hope you find peace if this is about you..... SEA

He pull the rug, but you set yourself free and I'm sure he felt the dust!
I like this one!

A quarter of a century must pass, for the writer to understand what and why he writes.
