~Testament Of The Heart~

I, being of sound mind and body ... do now bequeath to you my heart ...
I don't need it's services anymore ... it's just a useless orb now that we're apart.
And while I am at it ... allow me to surrender to you ... my soul,
It's merely an empty shadow now ... as losing you has taken a costly toll.

Next I wish to return to you ... my fascination ... my anticipation,
for they are only words cliche' ... along with imagination ... and inspiration.
Take with them my vision ... things of beauty I no longer need to behold,
no need for twilight sunsets, silvered moonbeams ... nor nature's secrets untold.

Last but never, ever least ... I leave to you my need of poetry,
I have no use for my muse ... my pen of you silenced by an act of destiny.
All these things I leave behind ... promises engraved in verse and rhyme,
along with love unending ... this testament of my heart etched in the sands of time.

Janet Marie

oh you speak to me in riddles
and you speak to me in rhymes
my body aches to breathe your breath
your words keep me alive

Ah, I knew I would see a very special person in here even before I opened it up....

but do not silence this, my gift
when needed for others yet to lift
and share my verse and deed among men
for in my heart, you live with them...

Hey JM...I could never top those two replies, but I will say that I hope your muse and inspiration NEVER leave you alone as long as you live!! I hope they bug you every single day!! Don't know what this place would be like without your unbelievable talent! But, really, this is excellent work, as always, m'friend...your usual 'knack' for describing any emotion, be it happiness or grief. Love this!!

JM, I think you need to wash your mouth out with soap for even thinking such words! Judge Marge needs to up the sentence from life to beyound life. Great verse and love the form. Now that you have that out of your system, what is next? Love and hugs, ME

Sea-girlie....youre so cute too ... and you know as long as Im breathing...Im writing...
actually I was looking at this book and it had some example of Wills for people to practice writing, and I thought how cool it would be to write a "will poem" leaving behind emotions instead of possesions.

Sweet SS...Lord knows I feel this one...and
have felt this one...we give it all up to
love...and then when we give up love...we
never seem to get everything back...always a
part of us that leaves without a forwarding
address....but if we are lucky...strength
soon fills the holes left behind and the
next time love comes...and it always
does...we are wiser...well ok...we are
stronger for the traces left behind..the
lessons in those sands of time...Love you me
girlie...and this poem says why you shine
baby...and shine like no other~

If it were not for your amazing talent JM ... you'd have almost scared me with this. But by the grace of your muse, she brings you yet another poem of depth, emotion and sensitivity as only you and she can create. Beautifully creative piece Janet Marie, and such wonderful responses (LOL @ Marge). Should you be sentenced my dear ... I'll join you ... quite willingly! This poem is a treasure!

Best wishes,

Been there, done it (a few times):

There would be no man ever take MY muse!
See, I now have this very short fuse.
Been married three times, I'm seasoned now,
Do I send them packing - yep, fast and how!

They don't get my heart, my soul, my muse,
Fascination, or imagination; this I'll use.
Vision I'll need to again inspire my mind,
To write of the new love I'm hoping to find.

I say good ridence -you stomped on my heart,
But you gave me tools for a brand new start.
So long, adieu, shalom, and goodbye,
I may have loved you - but hey - I won't die!

~Janet Marie,...had I not read the replies, I too would run and cry. I know that I've told you before that I read a whole lot more of you than I reply to, but,...your words often shift my mood, my thoughts, to these very deep, very reflective places and,...and I become overwhelmed sometimes with the depth, with the beauty, the truth, the oh god, weight of it all. I talk about you. To people here, at home, in my life, I admire you, I, I never know how to respond to your words because they get so inside of me, they leave me aching for you at times and I don't know why I'm telling you all this here, I don't, but I just wanted you to know that you are important to my poetry reading eyes and I only wish you *Peace for every minute of your time. Take care, and don't run scared from me now,...I'll leave ya be. ~A.

JM, this is beautiful! It's amazing what a mushy pulp that special person can reduce us to, isn't it? Love's power is great, and it's no use to try to fight. Thanks for sharing.

JLR .. yeppers .. marge is the boss...so I gotta be good   thank you so much for letting me know ya felt this one.

Spitfire .... saying thank you to this amazing reply just dont seem like its enough.. but I do thank you so very much ... your compliments and sincerity touches me deeply. The reason poetry is so powerful is because of the parts of ourselves we discover in each others words. The realizations and release that can come from these discoveries can be very comforting healing. So can the bonds of friendship and respect that form. I thank you for all of the above that both your poetry and your acceptance of mine has given me

Rosebud ...  and I thank you as well .. for your always wonderful and encouraging replies to my work...and its great to see you name here again. thank you muchly

Lovebug ... hey you..so nice to see you here...and yes....LOL at mushy pulp..

Katherine ... thank you poetess, yes ... the best work comes from those times
when we and our muse are in sync...mine makes me work for every line of late..but Im always grateful for each poem

inot2b ... LOL...thank ya kindly mam .. thats a sweet thought...I could use a spare ...
and sometimes a spare muse

Laura...thank you and I send the same wishes back to you ... its nice to see you here..you take care too.

Each read of this poem leaves me stunned... fortunately, all the giggling at the replies restores my breath. *S* (ROFL @ Marge THE BOSS JUDGE, Balladeer the ever gracious, ME the clean queen and Mysteria with attitude. *G*)

And now, sweet poet... just about the time I think I've read your best, you present another option... This is stunning work!

"have no use for my muse ... my pen of you silenced by an act of destiny."

In a poem of perfection, this line continues to draw me back to it... perhaps in gratitude that you speak an untruth. *S* For the beauty of poetry is that destiny doesn't silence the pen, it fuels the muse.... as you've proven time and again. *S* Beautiful!
