She decided it would be fine
to disintegrate in measures --

the dance of conjoined molecules
chemically broken from structure.

She decided it would be fine
to be the fly in the window,

wings vibrating,
crawling, centering --
to pounce from thick glass
into the sky.

She'd decided long ago
that he would keep the windows clean,
the latches sturdy,
the shutters open,
the view free of debris.

But he'd decided it'd be fine
to disintegrate,
in measures.

He was working on it
when she came in through the screen.

I sence a deeper meaning here. Interesting, capitivated, utterly original. I always knew squirrels were intelligent.

Mike, I love this ending.
Good to see you back here.
