The Dawn glows in full radiance.
Apollo smiles in streaming glory.
People awaken and burst with energy.
And with the endless chatter I smile along.

The Morn rises with emerald shine,
The heat of summer seeps in soft.
Life is at its peak and takes pride
While I lazily drag along the hours.

The Afternoon calms with wispy winds,
The sky stills with endless blue.
Serenity brings a short glimpse of perfection
While I gaze among the shadows in envy.

Ah Dusk, my long awaited escort of the night.
Life begins to rest and stop.
Activity is gone and the world lies in blissful slumber.
And I can finally remove this hideous fascade.

Oh, Night, my cold, dark lover.
Wrap me with the icy chills you bring.
Drown my voice to painful mute,
And let the tears glide endlessly.

My heart unravels,
The pain screaming out in silence.
Cold white stars, forver distant,
Pity this wretched thing of me.

Touch me cold and wrap me soft.
Hurt no one with my emotions but my soul.
Eat away and make me grin
Laugh with spite and give me comfort.

As I fade among your shadows,
Remove me from hateful Memory.
None will remember this tiny boy that cried,
And died in the Night with the many silent stars.

George, I really like this poem. Now, even though I've never written any Dark poetry, this is to me how it is supposed to be written. I think I'll study your writing, if you don't mind.
Thanks,
Ethel

thank you for the great encouragement. Oh, garysgirl, thanks for liking my poem, but if you want true Dark, look at the archives. That's where I find "inspiration" and learn from the masters.
