On Being I thought I could do it, being once so outgoing. But it gets harder every day, to wake up and make a move towards happiness. It is like self-imprisonment, a punishment for failing, that lost puzzle piece never found, a pill that won't dissolve, and sticks in my throat. Consoling words are no longer a remedy, when you live a life diseased. The cure can't be found. There is no elixir that can rectify my life. The fear is there. It is real and disquieting. I hear the panic in my ears, my voice lost to words of dread. I cringe at the face in the mirror, wondering how much it has changed and how little I recognize. I can do for others, but shrink when it comes to myself. I put on that mask, sometimes too thick, compress my thoughts until they are flattened to a level I can step over, and assure them that there is always tomorrow, while inside I feel selfish, wanting it today. Some days I am in the dark and others should be standing in a corner...so I am going to spread myself around a bit. Thanks and don't worry, my mood changes easily. hugssss M |
