CLINGING TO YOUTH

Clinging to youth,
as the last strings fall away.
Stuck somewhere in the middle,
though wanting to hang back and stay.
Like a VCR forwarding fast.
Pause, slow motion, rewind,
not quite as easy to make it last.
Why can't we go back,
to when life was simple?
When a day felt like a week,
when we'd get up real early,
and leap to our feet.
When we had time to stop and laugh,
to smell a flower,
or watch some ants march past.
We're now too busy rushing,
getting into a crash,
where life may be taken,
in an instant, a flash.
So take your time now,
savor scenery as you drive by.
Don't forget to laugh,
and never be afraid to cry.
Don't lose the child at heart,
live as free as you please.
Go crazy, get silly,
hug all the trees!!
