INNOCENCE

Where was I,
when life was perceived simple?
When innocence,
was a smile with a dimple.
Where everyday,
felt like Saturday afternoon.
Care-free and comfortable,
far from any doom.
Did I miss it somehow?
Skip past it all?
Fly to the future?
Walk down the wrong hall?
Did the sign say adulthood,
the one I couldn't read?
Did I choose the wrong path?
Plant tha bad seed?
Was it my actions,
that turned it this way?
Something I did?
Something I failed to say?
How did it all fall,
on my tiny shoulders?
A million little pebbles,
rolled into the heaviest of boulders.
"It's not my fault!"
I try to convince,
but there's no other explanation,
for lost innocence!

Great poem.  Sounds like you've been through the darkness a few times.  I can totally relate.  It is very well written and expressed.

Nicely done.

I am impressed on how free flowing the piece is throughout.  I enjoy how you let everything let go when you write.  Great job.

Your words touched my heart and I am sure so many can relate.
