"Bad Religion"

religion has seperated so many people, what a shame
people sacrificing their lives and hijacking then crashing planes
you are pushed into our children's face
you are taught in churchs and every other place
you are on the american dollar bill ("in god we trust")
while the everyday citizen lies, cheats and steals
society makes people think an atheist is evil
but i think its the other way around, you are the devil
when you have priests molesting and abusing our babies, sometimes rape
crooked men building churchs then asking for money in the collection plate
or waiting for the next funeral, so they can recieve money then pay for a whore
for pretending to care about what was yours
the priest turns out to be a pedaphile
looking at pornographic photos of a little child
i am so disgusted that the world ever believed in you
or praise a fairy tale book written by a moron just like you

(NOTE: If this is too real for anyone.. moderator delete this or whatever, but plz dont ban me. give me a warning if you feel the need   but umm whats the use of poetry if I cant express my feelings?)

hey

a few things to say...first on the issue of deletions/banning. You're new here - have you read the guidelines yet You can find them in the member's area (top left).

If there's a poem that I or the other moderator's of dark (or any mod who happens to read it) have a concern about we'll link it to the moderator's forum. All mods then get a chance to talk about it. If there's a consensus that the poem breaks the guidelines - it'll be deleted from the original forum - and sometimes moved to a more appropriate forum.

This is the key when it comes to expressing your feelings. If a poem is moved/deleted it is not about stopping you from expressing your feelings - it's about making sure that the poetry that's posted in pip is suitable for all to read. You can find out more about what we consider suitable in the guidelines. You're free to have any feelings you want on any subject - you just might not be free to share them here...

Banning - banning is not done lightly, and certainly not after one poem that we decide isn't appropriate. Any time a poem is moved or deleted members receive email notifications with an invitation to share their feelings on the subject (though a mod's decision is usually final).

Now as to your poem...in my opinion it's fine to stay. You're exploring some issues that have much of reality in today's world; may I also point out, however, that you're exploring only the negative - religious citizens, and religious authority figures, are not all like how you have described - something to think about..

Darkness surrounds our world , putting your faith in men has always been a disaster.  There is foolishness in the heart of every man. When you look at us and all our deeds its no wonder the true  God flooded the earth, religion is a creation of man its been evil since the beginning. Keep seeking the truth and it will be opened to you...Disillusioned but undaunted a fellow seeker.

Thanks alot to those who replied

I'm actually kind of in between believing and not believing. I dont like to label my beliefs though..so I dont claim to be agnostic. I like writing poems from an atheist point-of-view..

I'll agree that religeon is bad.. it kills. Faith though, well, we all have to have faith in something.. even if its in 'nothing' it takes faith.
but.. the evidence is just too great... I believe God exists and I have a relationship with Christ. Relationship... no religeon.
I like you expressing it all in a poem, though, so you know where you stand.

institutions suck, i agree.

but a thinking chap like yourself should not let that sour you on what were ideas meant to bring peace and love into a warring world.

free agency - its all we have.

nice, hard and honest write.

You have pointed out alot of the darker sides of organized religons.A very powerful honest write, I like it.I also like what Alyssa had to say.......Faith is differant than saying..I am a Catholic.....I am a Jew...Allah is great.I define myself as Christian....but personnaly believe we are all talking to the same God, And that God must be very dissapointed in us all.I think these very valid and well written points are a reflection of men, and all our human faults(though most of us are not this inhuman) and does not reflect the intentions of anyones God.Thanks for a good read.

Well now, I am not the one to agree or disagree with anyone's religious, or lack of, views...

I will say this about that however; your poem is strong and carries a powerful message, but it is a little one-sided. I would not suggest changing anything but would suggest taking a look at religion poetically and focusing on the good. I understand that this is one poem (and a good one too) but it feels a bit like blaming the water for a wet tee shirt contest.  In all things we must remember that balance is always the key in life, without balance we are just without.

Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn.

I loved this one!!!  It sounds so very similiar to many things I have written as well.  There are many things out there that are considered "touchy subjects." I have to say, (being new here), that it is great to see that this board is full of artistic adults and not immature morons. Something like this post can most assuredly produce negative comments.  Although some people did not agree with this poem or content entirely the author was treated with nothing but respect for his views.  I feel I am in the right place.
Thank you everyone for showing me that equality is essential here.
