What good is the prettiest fallen angel?
Who can she love who won't turn to salt?
Who can she cry for who won't burn to dust?
What good are her teardrops of blood and rust?

Please don't touch the wings
They already ache enough
I'm a charcoal princess
but all I want is this snow-white dove

What could heal the heart of poison?
Who can kiss the lips of death?
Why persist in waking me?
What could be better than these dreams?
What could make the venom nectar?
Who can make my eyes blue again?
Why don't you mourn for the soul that's departed?
All except the shell is dead.

Please don't touch the wings
They already ache enough
I'm a charcoal princess
but all I want is this snow-white dove

But all that is beautiful fades...
All that is precious is lost...
All that I touch turns to ashes...
I destroy everything that I love.

Please don't touch the wings
They already ache enough
I'm a charcoal princess
but all I want is this snow-white dove
...to cradle without ever killing
...to nurture and not turn cold
...to keep in this pit of insanity
just to remind me of what they stole

"I don't need to scream for you to deem me aggravation."

Do angels really cry?
Dark angels, such as I,
surely do cry.
Tears of red
stain my bed...
and rivers flow through my head.
So I suppose that I
may only answer in partiality...
for I do not know if white angels
cry, you see...

Your poem struck home in its own way...ty for a grand read with my coffee!!

Self-pity, thy name is Dark. I do enjoy a good sulk, though, every now and again. Very lyrical write. You've got music in you.
