She challenges my right to sleep,
though these days it is a feat
to wake before the first crow caws.

She gives me pause.

i don't know the band you refer to, but the near maniacal nature of the repetition was cool; it gave the piece real edge.

I agree with majnu, it's edgy in a good way. It does have a chant like quality to it that makes it work.

Thanks everyone. Y'know, this is the first time I've ever written "I hate you" to an ex. Quite liberating. (I've spoken it plenty of times -- but never went the next step to writing it)
