Feeling numb: Why do people read books? Watch TV? Play video games? Do drugs? We do so to forget Because when we can’t remember what hurts And If only for a moment… It doesn’t hurt anymore If only for a moment If reading was the addiction of the past For the people to forget for the moment, Then what will be the addiction of the future If only to forget for a moment? |

 Some people say food is the "addiction" anymore because of how overweight the general population is. Drugs too in a way only they may end up causing more reason to forget, leading to heavier addictions..I use to read a lot and it really helped when I just wanted to get out of my own world. I guess it is different for every person.  |
