Moved from a shack to a barn

0 posted 2002-11-14 01:59 PM

I sit here
In this old shack
And watch the children
Play

The toddler, costumed
In dime-store jewelry
Packing what she thinks important
Into an oversized purse
Wobbling  toward her illusory life
In a woman’s heels

The little warrior
Girded in armor, too large
Wielding blades, too heavy
Slaying his imagined dragons
Unheeding that which awaits

The juvenile judicator
Wearing borrowed robes
Peering over a too tall bench
To offer opinion, ungrounded
Meting appraisals, unfounded

They bore me

They bore you, yet stimulated you enough to pen this write, right?
Wish I could reach through the blue and give you a cold beer or a hot java, or perhaps a smile would do.

But not one of those little smiley emoticons.

Reminds me of something

When you realise life is nothing but a bunch of children playing, including those most "mature", it becomes boring and tasteless

Wow!  Your descriptions here are amazing as are your thoughts on what will eventually happen to these children.  I will definitely add this to my library.
