It's hard to distinguish between
spasms of pain and quakes of sorrow
here
Voices ring out strong as the smell
that hangs above my head like suffocating
smoke
Everybody wants to know if their loved
ones are okay, if they survived the blast I
guess

I'm crouching down here below the running
confused paralyzed city, straining to hear
him
His final words come out amid cold shivering
and angry spasms like those of the mercilessly
posessed
There was so much I had to tell you, so much
left unsaid about when your mother and I left
eachother

Part of me wants to stop the flow of tears
and the alien fist that pushes up my surrendered
throat
But they come and I watch the last moments
through blurred vision, letting 20 years roam
free
I always loved you even when you said everything
was my fault, even when you told me you hated
me

They ran in panic above me, trying to escape
the inevitable, trying to fight the inescapable
current
I let go and watched my father die there on the
street right in front of my face as it accepted the
truth
Never forget your mother and I always loved you;
I only wanted to protect you and make sure you were
happy

And so he died
leaving me 20 years
Guilt and fighting,
a forgotten war
that will never be
forgotten

"If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh"
