Let Her Go

She is holding you
From a distance.
Look at me
Capture my eyes.

I wish you would surrender,
I would handcuff you to me,
And swallowing the key
Would arrest your heart.

You have broken my law,
Kissing - you taste her lipstick
When it should be mine.
Let her go or swim in your own blood.
Cleanse the poison
That is her
Lest she should kill you.

That sadness does not
Have to be within you.
I can change that,
Look at me,
Let her go.

Wisdom comes with winters. **  Oscar Wilde.

Thank you.

I needed to hear a poem like this.  Whenever I would try to write a similar poem the words just fell away.  Maybe her poison still taints me.

Thank you again.

And how many of us have loved such a one?Well written,we have all held someone who still holds onto someone else.I really like the line "you have broken my law".Thank you for a nice piece that took me back to old loves.

this was quite cool. feels like a knife edge between psychosis, obsession, and true love. ;-)

Wow!!!  Interesting.

I'm a reader - not a writer.
