2. The Lord Checks the Doors

Lord Diastonene
checks the locks
on the lowest floor.

Near one staircase,
he stops and shivers,
leading to a white door.

He won't move on.
Something beyond
the threshold of his dream.

Behind that white
and empty plane --
something he can't see.

He can hear it.
Like wet separation.
Air calculation.

Knobs like gems.
Pilfered pockets.
Seams blocked by stones.

Soft violent twists.
Turning the light.
Shadow-secret bones.

And the shadow says.
Well, you know what she says.
Where is my Lady now?

And now we wait,
for the turn and creak,
of portal seek...Eek!

Right behind you guys.

In reply to "which way do we go?", the answer was never "straight", but, "progressively forward".

Posting three momentarily.
