No, I don't mean like an industrial work area. It's a style of music (very electronic; goes from trance to the hardcore psychotic ravings of bands like Skinny Puppy) and dress (I have a friend who dresses industrial, and he has what we call the "hardware store hoody". Lots of leather straps and metal loops. I designed it, and it weighs more than Hally-baby, my kitten). I don't know where this came from. It just, apparently, came.

Industrial Angel

Industrial angel.
Your trappings and chains.
Leather-cross stitches
and bated breath.
Bait your snare,
so spider-web strong.
Sooner or later,
we'll all bow to you.

Industrial angel.
Your metal-red hair.
Shining locks
and subtle smile.
Your key and cage
hold well through time.
Everything
is up to you.

A beautiful girl,
with dangerous edges;
what will become of us?
Lead us gently,
pose and play.
Industrial angel.
Lead us away.

Thank y'. And Mike seems to have fallen off the face of his computer, today... I'll hafta talk to that boy.

Anyway, Moon Dust, industrial and goth are very closely intertwined styles of music and dress, but they're not necessarily the same... You can mix and match, since I personally (if you really haaaaave to classify me, which I know some of my friends do) am a goth-industrial enthusiast with a bit o' punk thrown in.

But industrial music is way more electronic than anything you're gonna find this side of dance remixes. The title of industrial itself came from '80s synth-pop groups who would go into actual industrial yards with their samplers, recording sounds, then messing with them and feeding them into their synths to make music. This stuff can get really harsh, like Nine Inch Nails, or reeeaaalllyyy dancey, like Razed in Black, or just totally messed, like (as before mentioned) Skinny Puppy (and they're Canadian! YAY!). All industrial has really dark lyrics, though.

You'll find a lot of industrial enthusiasts can't stand goth music, and a lot of goth enthusiasts can't stand industrial... But purists just bother me; there's so much good music (and so many cool clothes!) out there, that you've just got to keep an open mind.

Okay, my lecture is over. For now. I'm terrible.

A lot of people would say Industrial and Goth are opposites?  I know a lot of rivet-heads who dislike the emotional gloomy-feely-frowny theme of Goth and prefer the cold lifelessness of Industrial.  I myself am a huge industrial music fan and I can see what is meant by that... I much prefer industrial music, its equal ability to frighten and fascinate the listener without any emotional undertone.

I know what you mean about the hardware store hoodie too... haha... I myself don't dress the part, I'm too much of a prettyboy, but I know what you're talking about... clothes shopping at Revy...

Your poem is a really neat concept, too.  Sorry to have delayed so long before regarding the poem itself, well here I go...

quote:
Sooner or later,
we'll all bow to you.

So true... slowly we're all starting to lose our identities and melt into a mass-produced assembly-line society.  Sooner or later we'll all bow to some factory-built ideal and shun the craftsmen.  It's sad, isn't it?

Love your poem, miss... glad the title caught my eye.
