Alcoholic

Storm-browned seas roar and rage,
Leaving me grasping for life.
Oh mercy's sake, take care of me now.
Save my soul from the coldness of the water.
It swashes and swills,
And seeks to have me drunken heartless.
Its very being, intoxicated on my presence.
Iciness shudders upon my bow
And shakes my hull ragged.
Few more nights of such,
And I know she’ll have me yet.

Cold air around with puffs of death,
I raise my hands against you.
You can toss and rage, bash and haze.
But will my will be stronger?

Yes, the day I will see, tomorrow will be
Your taste for my soul, wasted.
And the day after that, and that after that,
For life I’ve truly tasted.

loved the metaphor, and as an addict, I thought the message powerful. (no...one addiction wasn't enough for ME...I had to try EVERYTHING--AT LEAST TWICE) If this is written from a personal level, I wish ya much strength. (Luck just won't do.)

Makes me think of listening to a lost Cobain outtake -- woefully hopeful and sad.

Said if I only could ...
