Burning web of lies
The carapaces are beautiful here.
The coal-black beetle carapaces.
They dot the smoke of this web
and hang like jeweled dead eyes.

The rain shudders still across the silk
and catches itself drinking deeply.
The drops slide slow to sticky center
and break themselves to tears.

Raining away the center fire
that twirls and spins and burns a glow.
To leave the carapace of thought
hanging itself from inside out.

I count the legs. I count the eyes.
I count the strands of this web.
Burning web of lies is fed
by leader's breath of snow and lead.

Hmmph, I may have issues with yr new signature....

But it is so cool to see you use the word carapace! Is this a new word in yr already formidable lexicon?

Oh, and, not living in California, or the States... I sorta see the politics, but can y' 'splain more?

yet deign i embrace you with meek adoration?
your fragile humanity rised with contrition.

Nothin' to explain, baby (except maybe my signature). It's not meant for any one "issue," though I suppose "Burning web of lies is fed/by leader's breath of snow and lead" COULD be about U.S. foreign policy, if you really squint ...

Oh, and carapace has been in my words-I-use headfile since about 13. I just don't have many opportunities to dust it off.

Okay, so a sense of politics, but no issue. Gotcha.

To me, politics aren't poetry anyway. :P Augh, especially when your politicians are bible-thumpers and drunks. My kingdom for another province!

Hmm... I don't have a kingdom.

Damn.

if only, if only it were so.
