Missing You

I was the sort of fella
that on a full moon night,
would walk straight down
the center of Main Street,
drunk as a Lord,
howling at the Gods,
with your daughter
on my arm.
You know?
Sometimes,
I miss
that
guy.

This reminded me of something--probably my MOST favorite poem, written by a man who is remembered as newspaper columnist:
http://lifesci.ucsb.edu/~haddock/poems/archy.html

I loved the unexpected twist, after the intro of (forgive me?) trite title. and yep, I MISS "HER" too...

those two? could have re-named trouble!

Karenity Ablaze ~
The title is, I thought, quite rightly trite. After my fall from "High Curmudgeon", I thought it an invite to friends of "Poor Gentle wranx". besides, I DO miss that guy!
Also, I have to read this Don Marquis of yours (especially his Archy)

Your daughter, Sir? Never! Unless, of course, you are a lawyer or a preacher. Or she happens to be a Debutante. (I did love Debs)

Wow, you've taken "poor, gentle wranx" to heart. Loved this.

squirrel dude, I don't know what the hell I'm doin'. It's like I said, "never written, never desired to write", and now this! It just comes out the way it wants to.
(except for that Joycean whatever)

I think we all miss who we were at times. All the while anxious to see what we'll become, as we're finding out who are at the moment. Nice picture painted, wranx.

Sincerely,
Titus

yet in your infinite wisdom, you never spoke of your intentions with the daughter.
could be taken as if you were finding yourself amidst the szdxfcgvhbjnkkkkk of life, and did something honorable, eh?

this one taunts of the reader's own misguides, which makes it a sheer genious write.

were you admirable? lol

i came in here expecting something else...
but you've given me a smile that will last all day.
one for the library.

drunk as a Lord and running off with the daughters of the world....*sigh*
i miss that guy too...

it's our struggle for identity that leaves us all unknown

wranx, I too have that someone in the past I miss Well said. And I am glad that even though you have never desired to write you didn't take up decoupage instead.
