I drank of your blood
and tasted your rainbows;
the salt-rust colours
of all we have done.

I cradled your storm
and learned how not to run away.
Falling through mirrors,
prisms and reflections,
gasping for air,
not knowing how far to go.

Never wanting to stop.

This burning red on my lips;
make me blind.
The abusive colours beckoning,
beckoning,
reflecting back and shattering.

A bloody mirror kiss;
yours and mine,
sweetly silver
in the slivers of refracting light.
I could drown here forever.
I could die here,
with your touch.

Hold me close,
soft in vibrant colours,
breath of promise
closing my eyes.
I feel your tears,
too warm,
and am overwhelmed by the sense of red.

Orange. Yellow.
Green.
Blue. Indigo.
Violet.

Violent,
in its anguished peace.

In shattered colours,
you are with me.

This was written while listening to The Cure's most ravaged, angsty, decaying album ever. The Top. On vinyl. (Thank you, Mikhail!) Hearing different layers of vocals than the CD ever reveals. Revelling in the torture and joy that can only be something so desperate and broken and violent. I guess it's something to listen to while writin' for Dark, huh?

Lori~
You grow in this as well, (no longer dark for dark sake) or maybe you too have taken a giant step forward.

oh the images you given me...

"I cradled your storm

Falling through mirrors,
prisms and reflections,

not knowing how far to go."

that stood out and stuck....

Vinyls are a good thing, and they inspire good things. Yr favorite band on a vinyl is an even better thing, and therefore inspires even better things. Yr favorite album just leaves that in the dust.

And it's only one of my ... six Cure on vinyl. Yep, I'm spoiled.

Anyway, thank you, thank you! I think "deliciously dark" is now going to become part of my vocabulary, Tiersdin.

And Mikhail, need I repeat that you are way too easily floored?

*shakes head* Please believe I haven't 'grown as a poet' in two months. *rolls eyes* Nuh uh.

My style is all over the board. It changes every time I put pen to paper. I've written poems of the style and calibre of this years ago, months ago, whatever. Whatever pops out pops out.

I'm less inhibited when absolutely dead tired, of course.   Which is why writing at work and when I get home from work seems to have a good effect on th' things I do.

Oh, and I guarantee that I've made Mike whimpershiver/shiverwhimper/anything combining these two actions before. You shoulda seen him as I was writing Midnight Beauty, on a spur of the moment inspiration when he said the words Friday freak clothes would make a good song. He almost died when I just started throwing out words.

Other four letter words:

Love. Lori. Snow. Sigh. Heat. Cold. Wind. Mind.

Are any of those bad words?
