Grey on grey

Death . . . the ultimate smelly rotting foot flesh
as slippery liquefying peel phenomenon

Elsewhere the nerves begin to play tricks
and the skin turns to an expanse
of raw fire
untouchable

Muscles move on their own
in mis-directions
tuned to some sort of static

Pain once largely avoidable
now comes from the inside
and works its way out
or stays there and waits

Colors wash past black and white
to grey on grey

Having seen enough
the mirrors’ silver flakes away
and transparency becomes us all

trees tumble out of twigs and sticks;

As if feet weren't smelly enough! Sheesh, now I'm gonna think of dead feet all night.
