Lori challenged me (in response to my poem Want, long, burn, need) to write a poem incorporating words she gleaned from Cure songs. I didn't do all the words -- but here's what I came up with.

Heat of gray
I disguise Christmas among ice.
The lick of kiss, of kiss, of kill.
Dance the empty dream of light.
Your lips are always on my mind.

My eyes are mirrored mouth of moon.
They echo fading garden face.
Girl-gorgeous hands, my icing heart.
The heat of gray your laughter's name.

Side by side we fall from stairs.
We stare again at silent tears.
Again and again, we beg and cry.
We drown to dress ourselves in sky.

Helpless hold, the hours sing
a song of sleep and dreary dreams.
Swim alone through helpless miles
devoured by my stranger's smiles.

The sun is soft and shadow-slow.
A frozen skin of tomorrow.
Touch and tear the truth of time.
Your voice clings like water's rhyme.

We're cat-claw cold and bird-blood dark.
We writhe the never nights of years.
Feel and feed this frozen fire.
My eyes are old without your ears.

This fear to crush the day to death.
A desperate cry to disappear.
We die inside as life whispers.
The wishing sun is bleak and near.

A blade of art, remembered, scared.
They speak of sweet worlds when we die.
Girl, just hold this sad boy down.
And push me on to make me fly.

She said burn ... together.

To Whom it may concern,

You seem to have misplaced your poetry.
I found this, crumpled and ignored on a back page.

Having read it, twice, to be sure, I determined to place it out front, where its' rightful owner may claim it

Not YET, silly! You already told everyone it was tomorrow, remember? Ah'm not turning 19 on the 19th! Though I'll pull a 20 on the 20th next year, so that's cool.

Tis a necessity that you be challenged more oft, as this was remarkable.
