I sit atop a barren hill
and agitate myself with open eyes
Looking down ~ way down below
to hypocrisy sown in mortal cries
The “wisdoms” they shout are but meant
to buff others about inside bottles that break
For stature? For popularity? For wanton fun?
For Martyrdom, self edification, for their own sake?

Atop this barren hill I think
how all below raise in cause to fight belief
Slam him ~ slam her for rights to be different
tho’ slander and sardonism only bestow grief
“You’re Book is all wrong, yet I know Truth,
and sadly one soon day so shall you”
Yet at this height, I shed but a smirk
because the “truisms” will show them wrong, too.

There is a belief that grows on this hill
Its title atop this page  longer than many a blade
It’s a system of belief against the destruction
of any standable thing someone else in standing made
If all would accept the maxims of life
that seem to flow through every “religion” or creed
Then all would know that atop a barren hill
Love flowers ~ truly flowers, and brings the Truth closer indeed.

Purity,

I'll just have to leave this stuff to you.
You do it so well.

i was born into a christian family. all of the teachings were forced upon me at an early age, and my beliefs were molded. later, when life reared it's ugly head, i had to question. although i still love the stories and parables of the "book", i have learned so much from many of my friends that were born into, and forcedly taught different trains of thought. i cannot put myself above them, nor can i think i'm going to an eternal life, and they are not because of a difference of thought taught. when one studies the varying religions of the world, one sees that the "truths" are all the same, i guess the "truisms" you speak of. i've read some of the attacking poems against christianity, and the attacking responses from those presumed to be christian, and your poem became truth. as knocked as it may be, and as foolish as it may seem, love is indeed the most common bond throughout all i have studied. a most admirable poem, and an interesting title defined very good.

i'll always need a friend, one i can defend.

Amazing, Purity. this one I loved immensely, and noticed the style was different from some of your earlier works. Great job and so creative an approach on this subject!
