high noon

battered images of the future I allude to
grow fuzzier with each sunrise I reject,
crouching by the shore side
waiting patiently for this day to fall behind the mirror
and the moonlight to fill my glass

I am not one of those geniuses who need to be shown
that applying scotch guard to a crumbling brick
doesn’t stop the rain from falling on it
I am already familiar with erosion, the inevitable
and the futility of resistance
history is a broken record
and there is little in the way of
a shoulder to lean on
out here in the hands free zone
people mustn’t be expected to listen
when they cant even put a finger on
they’re own primal scream
or a smile on
the faces of their children

I feel the sun beating upon my neck
and realize
I have a while yet
to wait

I like this....

...certainly made me think...

keep it up.
Always, Alyssa

- And so it was that time stood still -
