Moved from a shack to a barn

Once,
I contemplated suicide.
It was a bad time.
It was Christmas.

The wife had run off
with an ex-con.
With her went, the cash,
The house,
The cars.

The failing business
that we owned
seemed pointless.

My father,
I just discovered
was terminal,
less than a month
remained

So,
I contemplated,
the how,
the where,
the when.

And it seemed,
easy

Until,

I contemplated
the Who
that would discover
the thing,
that once was me

I concluded,
that if I were concerned
that much
about the poor soul,
luckless enough,
to find my leftovers,

maybe, I should
reconsider

Kismet again.

Thanks, but, what I just read of yours is just stellar.

Somehow, things always do right themselves, huh? And people're always stronger for it.

Great read.

I don't think I've ever seen it put better
