Just let me get up on this soapbox...OK, now, lemme ask ya.

Is anyone concerned that millions are spent advertising
A prescription cure for yellow toenails
That may cause Migraines and Diarrhea or might cause
Significant damage to your heart and liver?

Is anyone concerned that every human being in this country is
Responsible for generating over 1,400 pounds of trash per year?

Is anyone concerned that we lead the entire planet in
Artificial breasts per capita?

Is anyone concerned that there are doctors actually practicing
Cosmetic Psychiatric Chemotherapy on folks that are just not
As perky as they could be?

Is anyone concerned that we exercise far better care
Categorizing and storing the inane pratterings of professional politicians
Than our nuclear waste?

Is anyone concerned that all of our children covet
Basketball shoes?

Is anyone concerned that those of us that demonstrate, disrupt or
Destroy abortion clinics, would never consider adopting a used baby?

Is anyone concerned that at in the moment when three thousand souls
Were wrenched from the firmament, far, far, far too many of us
Mourned the losses to our portfolios or railed against the loss of
Regularly scheduled daytime television?

Well, that about does it. Y'all can go back to that very important cell phone call that you made to your aromatherapist while driving your SUV to the mall to pick up the items Martha Stewart said you'll need to turn your bathroom into the prettiest place that anyone will ever defecate.

And yet, ironically, there are those who would be poignantly loud in there "here heres" to this, citing that they've dissavowed all the worldly psychopathologies, going back to the natural life sans possessions...even the use of the very soap that provided this magnamious pedestal for your awesome piece. This was great to read, and so true to the "state of where"...I concur with you.

That's what happens when you have a rich nation. People who are so looking to find any problems to struggle against, they make the smallest things seem huge and looming.

People are idiots. Liked yr poem.

For anything I say here, I run the risk of sounding just like the people you describe (and so well).
