Odd Lot

Throughout my life
I have been involved with the odd woman.
Not to say, the occasional woman.
I’ve always attracted and been attracted to
The oddest of women.

The Horse Artist was not so much an artist
That painted horses, though she did.
But, an artist, I believe, that actually thought
she was a horse, a very small one.

One woman, after the demise of our relationship,
Became a Bookish Lesbian Bookkeeper.

I once married a Paralegal Cage Dancer,

And buried a Drunken French Cowgirl

Another lover gave up her violin, and me
For marriage and a liquor store.

My “One True Love”, at least I think so,
was an Ex-Lesbian Art Teacher.

Then, there was the Reborn Again Mother of Two,
The Motorcycle Racing Mechanic,
The Log Cabin Ballerina,
And the unforgettable Drug Dealing Pastry Chef.

If you are keeping score, so far it’s
One gone lesbian, one gone straight, one gone to jail
One gone to heaven, one gone to Atlantic City
One gone nuts, one gone to Jesus
And one gone down to the liquor store

Although my loves have indeed been an odd lot,
They do have a couple of things in common.

One, they were all exceedingly bright

Two, the Odd Man Out.

This is going into my library - fantastic..I can say the same thing..

My ex-lover the Believer In Fairies, and the Boy Who Went To London And Came Home Gay. Not to mention Mr X, and the Terrorist.

You have my full appreciation for this piece, Wranx.

The drug dealing pastry chef reminds me of someone I work with... Only it's donut baker, and I think ALL of the ones at my place of work have dealt drugs in the past. Whee.

Feel my angsty reachiness!

Quite a formidable list you got there, wranx. And it's NOT heartbreakingly mundane. Yay.

wranx, you outdid yourself with this one. most impressive...and unique. I love your style, and your wit-in-handling on such a subject as past relationships... exceptional.

Thank you, one and all for your kindnesses.
Thanks especially, for your flattery.
