The divers swam the depths a world gone wrong.
"That's where he stood, watching over his dream,"
the one said to the other.

"And here is where his enemy was slain."

The pillars that held aloft the new world and the new government
knealt to give way to the new life of enlightenment through decay.

The two explorers continued looking for gold
up the nose of the old world, finding snotty
ends to dreams that weren't that good anyway.

Occasionally they found decayed charred bodies
still looming at varying depths.  Finally, man
had found a better way.  They laid beside each
other in peace rather than in war, their blood
finally mixing in brotherhood, they lie silent.

"It's a fitting end."

"It's a lesson."

Not that anyone really gives a damn.

"If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh"
