My homeland is not of the world

0 posted 2002-02-27 05:06 PM

Okay this one stills needs a name. I just have no good idea what to call it.

Can you hear the voices in the air
Alone they are, but they don't care
Screaming aloud to show their pain
Screaming tears falling down like rain

Lonely they are in this dreaded place
Lonely they are, no one can see their face
Ghosts they are, flowing with the wind
Ghosts they are, what problems can they mend

Eyes of flame, and tongue of ice
Dreaded they are, but truly nice
They'll warm your heart with a single touch
Until they steel it in a rush

Eyes of ice, and tongue of flame
Can you hear them now, calling out my name
They steel my heart with a single grip
And turn my life into a sunken ship

I don't really think this ones needs a name, it speaks for it self.  I loved it.  Wonderful contradiction.

I can remember as a child sitting in my dark bed room listening to the angry voices of my parents in the other room.I felt so helpless.I thought if I was a better child maybe they would be better parents.

A very strongly written poem that I really enjoyed.  How about Fire and Ice, seemed to suit it?  You did a great job on this.

This is wonderful--I can still remember the rumble of my fathers voice when my parents used to fight--it shook the whole house--I have a 3 year old nephew now & I can clearly see that children soak up everything & understand a lot more than you think! ELMO

Interesting poem.  I like the imagery.  You did well on the metre too.
